1969 Volvo 164 – Classic Swedish Six-Cylinder Cruiser

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1968, the Volvo 164 was Volvo’s 4-door, 6-cylinder flagship sedan and the forerunner to the later 264. Around 146 000 were built before production ended in 1975, with the early 1969–1971 cars running dual Zenith Stromberg 175CD2SE carburettors – just like this one.

This example is a spacious 4-door family sedan with a large boot and that long-legged open-road cruising character Volvo 164s are known for. It remains basically in standard condition and, as a 55-year-old classic, will require some TLC to take it to the next level. The registration documents still show the vehicle status as USED. A solid Swedish luxury saloon from a different era, ideal for someone looking to revive and enjoy a proper old-school six-cylinder Volvo.
