Description

Austin Cooper

Introducing this beautiful Austin Mini Cooper, going under the hammer at our May Masters – Legends & Icons Auction.

The classic Austin Cooper is one of those rare cars that delivers both investment appeal and pure driving enjoyment. Light, lively and full of character, these little machines have a way of getting under your skin the moment you drive one.

This example is understood to have been assembled in Rhodesia and carries Body Number 196. We have also been told that it was once owned by John Love, the Rhodesian racing legend and multiple Formula One Grand Prix entrant from the 1960s, adding a great layer of history to an already special car.

Under the bonnet sits the lively 998cc transversely mounted engine, fed by twin SU carburettors and paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. With its compact size, front disc brakes, Minilite-style wheels and Yokohama rubber, it delivers that proper Mini Cooper “giant killer” feel that made these cars so famous on road and track.

Finished in light blue with white bonnet stripes, a white roof and a charming blue-and-white interior, this Cooper has all the right period appeal.

Small in size, big in personality, and packed with classic motorsport charm — this is a driver’s classic not to be missed.
