Description

Opel 200 Turbo Two-Door Prototype

This is not your everyday Opel. This rare two-door 200 Turbo is a proper South African performance oddity, and according to the owner, was developed locally as a factory-built turbocharged 6-speed prototype.

Built with racing intent, the car was reportedly developed to compete in South African motorsport against the BMW E36 M3 Lightweight. Unfortunately, due to changes in local motorsport regulations, the planned series was cancelled, leaving this car as a very rare piece of “what could have been” Opel performance history.

And then there is the drive. This is real old-school boy-racer theatre, turbocharged power sent to the front wheels, a 6-speed manual gearbox, boost noise, torque steer, and that raw mechanical feel that modern cars have mostly polished away.

Finished in white with black leather interior, factory-style body kit, bonnet vents, sunroof and Opel Turbo detailing under the bonnet, it has the look and attitude to match the story.

Rare, unusual and seriously cool, this Opel 200 Turbo is one for the collector who likes their performance cars with a bit of madness and a lot of SA flavour.

Not to be missed when it goes under the hammer
