Description

This 1960 Chevrolet Corvair is a very interesting and distinctive American classic, and certainly not something you come across every day in South Africa.

Finished in maroon with a contrasting white roof, the car has a great period look. The styling is clean, simple and very different from the large American cars of the same era. The Corvair was Chevrolet’s bold move into a more compact and unconventional design, with its rear-mounted, air-cooled flat-six engine giving it a layout unlike most American cars of the time.

This example is a left-hand-drive model and is fitted with an automatic transmission. The owner notes that it is a one-owner vehicle, mechanically in good condition and generally presents well.

The interior is one of the standout features of the car, finished in red/maroon and white. It has a great 1960s look, with bench seating, simple controls and a clean period-correct cabin. The overall presentation suits the character of the car beautifully.

The rear engine bay presents neatly, and the car retains its unmistakable Corvair identity with the engine housed at the back, making it a proper talking point for any collection.

With papers in order and Dealer Stocked status, this Chevrolet Corvair offers a rare opportunity to own a seldom-seen American classic. Stylish, unusual and full of character, it would make a great addition for someone looking for something different from the usual classic car crowd.
