1972 Datsun 2400 Super Six

This 1972 Datsun 2400 Super Six is a rare survivor of Nissan’s big six-cylinder saloon era in South Africa. Finished in period green with a contrasting grey vinyl roof, it carries all the right 1970s details, from the slim chrome bumpers and hubcaps to the “Datsun 2400” and “Nissan Full Automatic” badging on the tail – a neat reminder of the brand transition of the time.

Under the bonnet sits the 2.4-litre inline-six, rated at 130 hp, paired with an automatic transmission, giving the car a smooth, easy-going character that suits its “Super Six” badge. The odometer shows 59 679 km indicated at the time of cataloguing.

The real highlight is the interior. The tan cloth cabin presents almost like new, with the broad bench seats, door panels and carpets all in impressively well-preserved condition. The dashboard is wonderfully original, right down to the period radio and the 8-track cassette player still in place under the dash.

Overall, this is a very rare find: a largely unmolested Datsun 2400 Super Six that runs well and still feels very much like a time capsule. Please note, however, that there are NO PAPERS with the car, and prospective buyers should take this into account when bidding
