Description

This International Model A2 is a proper working piece of South African commercial history. Sold new to J. Zuckerman & Co. in Cape Town in 1934, it spent decades delivering goods before being traded for another International in 1960. According to the brass history plaque on the body, the engine is the original unit and has only been rebored once, with the gearbox, axles and steering also still original.

The cab has been sympathetically restored in timber, with a new wooden body and floor replacing the original oak that succumbed to dry rot. Inside you get a simple black bench seat, timber roof and sides, original-style gauges and data plates, plus that huge steering wheel and long floor shifter that remind you this is a real truck, not a toy.

Finished in bright red with black guards, red artillery wheels and a stained timber load bed, it has loads of presence and would look at home in a museum, collection, or in front of a period-style business as rolling signage. After more than 70 years it is still running, with its character and patina intact.

Note: The truck currently requires a new set of spark plugs to run properly.
