The Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG, known as the world’s best sporting saloon. It was an impressive package and far more of an all-rounder than the hot rod reputation of AMG might have you believe. Arguably it set the template for a generation of big V8-engined AMGs, yet today it seems largely forgotten and unloved. It shouldn’t be.

AMG’s hand-finished engine was based on the SOHC 5.0-litre M113, enlarged to 5.4 litres a freer-flowing exhaust and the addition of a Supercharger. This boosted output to 469bhp and torque is 700Nm.

Performance figures showed around 4.7 Seconds from 0-100kmh, and a top speed governed to 155 Mph (248Kmh)

There are service books and manuals with partial service history.  The car has had some paintwork in its history but overall presents well. These cars do not get seen often on the roads anymore so could be a good buy for the enthusiast that wants to enjoy one of the world’s greatest sporting saloon.
