1988 Toyota Conquest RSi 20V – Speed & Sound Featured
This 1988 Toyota Conquest RSi Twin Cam is a proper old-school hot hatch that’s been rebuilt to do exactly what these cars were born for – rev, handle and get driven hard. Under the bonnet sits a 1.6 20V Blacktop motor on individual throttles, built by Daya’s Auto and still running on the stock ECU, happily spinning to around 8 500 rpm. The motor has done roughly 1 000 km since the build and features TODA cams, JASMA branches and a full wire tuck, giving the bay that clean, motorsport look with all the right hardware to back it up.
The chassis and stance are sorted with BC coilovers, and if the next owner wants to go air, Airlift bags can be swapped onto the BC struts. Outside, the car stays true to its roots in white with Twin Cam 16 graphics and period-style wheels that suit the shape perfectly. Inside, it’s been treated to a full Nappa leather and Alcantara retrim with red accents, giving a modern, premium feel without losing the RSi character.
The body shows 483 000 km indicated, but with the fresh 20V build this Conquest feels sharp, tight and eager, exactly the way an RSi should. It has already earned its stripes with a feature in Speed & Sound magazine – proof that this isn’t just another backyard project, but a properly put-together, respected car in the scene.
If you’re after a sorted, high-revving Conquest RSi with real presence and pedigree, this one ticks all the boxes.
